NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER 2006
ANNUAL
GENERAL MEETING
This was held during the Devon week at the Three Rocks Pub, Ladram Bay.
The committee was re-elected en masse. For the first time in years there were
proposals for discussion, raised by the committee in reaction to decreasing
membership. The outcome of them can be read below with regard to newsletters and
insurance. It was also proposed and accepted that we streamline our activities
and that the training aircraft with the possible exception of the helicopter
will not be replaced when they come to the end of their useful life, for the
immediate future, as most pilots requiring training are equipped with their own
gear. Should membership and therefore finances increase this will be reviewed.
FUTURE
NEWSLETTERS
Following the proposals passed at the AGM, this will be the last
newsletter in this format. Due to the ever-increasing costs of production
measured against the reduction in membership and the lack of content submitted
for them, the newsletters will be replaced with six monthly information sheets
detailing the holidays and renewals.
INSURANCE
A proposal was passed at the AGM that the insurance scheme be scrapped
with effect from 1st
June 2007.The premium we pay is now becoming prohibitive as we have to
pay on an assumed maximum number of covers whether they are actually taken or
not. With the exception of a few individuals the members of 2 clubs mainly take
the insurance and the secretaries of those clubs have been contacted. Our
brokers, Walker Midgeley can also arrange individual cover for members and
details can be obtained from Tony Wood at Walker Midgeley, Yorkshire Bank
Chambers, Fargate, Sheffield, S1 2HD, TEL 0114 250 2770.
